Learning from the Lives of Animals in a Short Story “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse”

 Everyone would want to live happily, including prosperous life with abundant food facilities. But actually, happy life can only be obtained from the peace of mind, living in peace, and the absence of threats. Picture of the false notion of a happy life is told in a short story entitled “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, this story tells about the real essence of a happy life by using the life of two mouse with two different residential settings and with different characters. Then what is the real happy life?

This story is told in two different locations, in rustic villages but the citizen live peacefully and in a fancy city but it is filled with hustle and bustle. From the election of the characters, the author describes the figure of a mouse who is bad- known and have a lot of negative character like steal, dirty, and so forth, but there is still a positive side of one of their characters. Although the story is packed in fable and is intended for children, but there are some lessons that anyone can certainly take a lesson.

Starting from narration of the supercilious town mouse, illustrated with bad behavior by denouncing the best dish served to him from his cousin (country mouse) who was kind because he had prepared a dish best (well), even then it is not well received by his cousin. Then the town mouse suggest his cousin to stay luxuriously in the city. From here we can take a lesson that not every great thing can makes us happy, also don’t too hurry in making a decision even the offer is good and great, the changes for being life better like he previously thought it turned out to be otherwise, the country mouse should feel uneasy life threatening, despite the town city intentions is kind, to free his brother from what he considers to be miserable, but sometimes misery for some people is a joy.

then at the end of the story, we can also follow the example of the country mouse that have a principle for his assumption better the simple life, but in peace, rather than a luxurious life but in fear, reinforced by what his said when they want to go back to the village, “Better beans and bacon in peace than cakes and ale in fear”. He is not greedy for treasure and blind hearts to justify the means for the sake of luxury.

Can be concluded, that as humans, we should be able to take the example of animals who are incidentally known as voracious creatures but still has a fixed establishment to choose for tranquility compared with the luxuries of life as a priority. And still appreciate what is in this life, we should be ashamed if still want to live in luxury, but in lack of calmness because we are too greedy and greedy by any means, and taking other people's property

            Humans, as a noble creature should always reflect and act as befits people who are wise, not only that, but also we should also include the conscience on the side of reason, in order there will be nothing goes wrong to apply our resourcefulness, and the result when after we read and hear of these stories we should be embarrassed when we are more contemptible than a mouse that is told, if it has been more abject than the rat so, where was the location of the person's degree?

Shame people of today, when discourse the parable of human  is not enough to change their attitude, the story of the animals was also not make any changes. Hopefully the writing of the story of “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse” can give us lessons about life.
